Mom of 16, charged with battery, opts for pretrial program

Angel Adams, who gained local notice when her story of living in a single motel room with 12 of her children came to light, has agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program rather than face charges of battering a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
There was no testimony in court Monday morning after Adams agreed to the intervention program. The program is a common option for first-time offenders.
Adams, 39, was 8½ months pregnant with her 16th child during the May incident, in which police accused one of Adams' sons of throwing rocks in the neighborhood.
